Name: Freda Adjeley Sowah
Birthday: June 27, 2001
Country: Ghana, Africa
Child Information
Freda is a child that our High School Ministry adopted through Compassion International.
Freda lives with her parents in the coastal community of Tishie, Ghana. Ghana, home to approximately 8,900 residents, is rich in natural resources, including gold, diamonds and rubber. However, 45% of the population lives in extreme poverty making less than $1 a day. Most adults in Tishie are employed as fishermen or in petty trade and earn the equivalent of $32 per month. This community needs schools, qualified teachers, improved housing, employment opportunities, and skills training.
Our sponsorship helps Freda with Bible teaching, health screening, hygiene education, vaccinations, school tuition and vocational counseling. The center staff will also provide nutritional education and HIV/AIDS awareness prevention programs for her parents.
Ghana
The Republic of Ghana is a coastal country in western Africa with a tropical climate. The small country, about the size of Oregon, is hot and humid because it borders the Gulf of Guineau. Once called the Gold Coast, the country is wealthy in resources although poverty is widespread.
Most of Ghana's more than 21 million people live in cities. About 98% of the country's population is African, split among six major tribes. But the country is flooded with refugees from its neighbors, war-torn Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Togo. 63% of the country's population is Christian, 16% is Muslim, and 21% follow indigenous beliefs. English is the official language but some people speak native African languages such as Akan, Moshi-Dagomba, Exe, and Ga.

Compassion International
Would you consider sponsoring a child in need? $38/month can change the life of a child. In America, we live in excess and priviliedge. Think about how freely you spend $38. A meal, a couple of DVD's, a round of golf. Is there a more noble way to invest our money? Go to Compassion International today and prayerfully consider a child to sponsor. With nearly 2,000 verses in Scripture commanding us to defend the cause of the poor and needy, this ministry is justified.
"Where you live should not decide whether you live."
